San Antonio guard De’Aaron Fox is officially questionable for Tuesday’s Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Timberwolves because of ankle soreness, according to the Spurs’ latest injury report.

The club initially cited soreness in Fox’s left ankle earlier Monday, but the designation was later amended to his right ankle. The update was first noted by Jared Weiss of The Athletic.

Fox, 28, inked a four-year maximum extension with San Antonio last August and played 72 regular-season games in his first full year with the Spurs. He averaged 18.6 points, 6.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 31.0 minutes while shooting 48.6% from the field, 33.2% from three-point range and 76.0% at the foul line. The performance earned him a second career All-Star selection.

Through four games of the second-round series with Minnesota, Fox’s production has dipped to 16.8 points, 4.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals over 32.8 minutes, with shooting splits of 37.9% overall, 22.2% from deep and 72.2% at the stripe. The matchup is tied 2-2 heading into Tuesday’s pivotal contest at Target Center.

If Fox is unable to play, rookie guard Dylan Harper — the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s draft — is expected to handle a larger share of the ball-handling and scoring duties.
