San Francisco, CA — Rumors linking LeBron James to the Golden State Warriors have re-emerged after longtime NBA analyst Bill Simmons said on his podcast that Golden State would be his pick if the four-time MVP ever left the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Honestly, if I had to bet my life on a team, I’d think I would bet on them,” Simmons remarked, emphasizing that he was speculating rather than reporting.
The idea of pairing James with Stephen Curry has circulated for years. According to league sources, the Warriors explored the possibility of trading for James during his current stint with the Lakers, and the franchise continues to surface in conversations about the All-Star’s future.
ESPN insider Brian Windhorst recently listed Golden State among the clubs to monitor should James and the Lakers fail to agree on a new contract. The Warriors’ payroll already features sizable commitments to Curry and Jimmy Butler, making any pursuit of James — who will turn 41 next season — financially complex.
Most executives around the league still expect the NBA’s all-time leading scorer to re-sign with Los Angeles or at least keep negotiating with the franchise. Even so, with free agency on the horizon, Golden State remains a potential landing spot, keeping speculation alive.
