The Boston Celtics have finalized a rookie-scale contract with 19-year-old forward/center Chris Cenac Jr., according to the NBA’s transaction log.
Boston selected the former University of Houston standout with the 27th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Cenac, a New Orleans native, entered his lone college season projected as a possible top-10 selection before slipping to the late first round.
Cenac averaged 9.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 24.8 minutes per game for the Cougars, shooting 48.5% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range and 62.1% at the free-throw line.
First-rounders almost universally receive 120% of the rookie-scale amount, which would pay Cenac just under $3 million in 2026-27 and approximately $15.3 million over four seasons. The third and fourth years are team options.
