Giannis Trade Rumors Swirl, but No Celtics-Bucks Deal in Place
SLUG: celtics-bucks-giannis-trade-rumors
The Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks have not reached, nor are they near, an agreement to send Giannis Antetokounmpo to Boston, according to multiple league sources contacted by Hoops Wire.
Speculation on social media suggested a blockbuster exchange involving Antetokounmpo and Celtics wing Jaylen Brown. However, sources said neither player is close to being moved and that no substantive negotiations are underway.
Other Possible Destinations
Executives who spoke with Hoops Wire over the past week continue to view the Miami Heat as the most likely landing spot if Milwaukee eventually entertains offers for its two-time MVP. Some insiders believe the Bucks favor keeping Antetokounmpo and instead pursuing another star, such as Memphis guard Ja Morant, should he become available.
Celtics’ Position on Brown
Boston is expected to receive calls about Brown, and team officials may listen, sources said. Nonetheless, the Celtics are not actively seeking to trade a player who finished last season in the MVP conversation and powered an overachieving regular-season run.
While a deal sending Antetokounmpo to Boston cannot be ruled out entirely, insiders emphasized that no agreement is imminent and that talks, if any, remain preliminary.
