Mitchell Eligible for Four-Year Deal
Mitchell can sign a four-year extension with Cleveland this summer. According to multiple league sources, both the All-Star guard and the organization remain committed to each other. Team president of basketball operations Koby Altman recently reiterated that stance, saying, “Donovan is uniquely ours, and he’s our guy.”

Pedone also reported that the Cavaliers are exploring salary-saving transactions, with recent rumors tying the club to cost-conscious acquisitions such as veteran guard Dennis Schröder. Around the league, many executives expect James Harden to decline his player option and negotiate a new contract elsewhere, a move that could influence the broader point-guard market.
Ownership has signaled an aggressive summer. In a public statement, chairman Dan Gilbert wrote that the organization intends to “dig in all summer and do everything possible to take the next step.” Creating additional cap room would give Cleveland more freedom to reshape a roster that fell short of championship expectations.
