Rams Finalizing Deal for Browns Star and Cavaliers Minority Owner Myles Garrett

The Cleveland Browns are close to sending defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, according to multiple reports on Monday.
The proposed package would deliver former Defensive Rookie of the Year Jared Verse, a first-round selection and additional draft considerations to Cleveland. If completed, the move would end Garrett’s nine-season run with the Browns, where the 2017 No. 1 overall pick earned seven Pro Bowl nods and established himself as one of the league’s dominant defenders.
Garrett’s departure carries extra weight in Northeast Ohio because of his ties to the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2023, the pass rusher purchased a minority stake in the franchise and became a team ambassador, joining the ownership group led by chairman Dan Gilbert. His investment came after years of regular courtside appearances at Cavs games and participation in events such as Summer League and All-Star Weekend.
While Garrett’s football career now appears headed west, his Cavaliers ownership interest is expected to remain unchanged.
ESPN reported that Los Angeles pursued Garrett aggressively before reaching the agreement, a transaction that would rank among the largest defensive trades in NFL history.
The deal still requires final approval before it can be announced by either team.
