Cavaliers seek 2–0 cushion as Raptors visit for Game 2

The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to seize a 2–0 advantage in their opening-round matchup with the Toronto Raptors when the series resumes Monday, April 20, at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on Peacock and NBC Sports Network, with oddsmakers favoring the home team by 8.5 points.

Key injury watch

Toronto guard Immanuel Quickley remains questionable after sitting out Game 1 with a strained hamstring. Head coach Darko Rajaković said the third-year guard is “improving,” but the final decision will come closer to game time. Without Quickley, the Raptors lacked transition thrust and consistent shot creation in Friday’s opener.

Cleveland lists only reserve center Thomas Bryant (knee) as unavailable. Every other player is expected to dress, giving head coach J.B. Bickerstaff a full rotation around stars James Harden and Donovan Mitchell.

What worked in Game 1

The Cavaliers controlled tempo, limited fast-break chances and out-executed Toronto in the half court en route to a comfortable victory. Their decisive spurt spanned the late second and early third quarters, when quick ball movement produced open looks and a double-digit margin that never shrank.

Raptors’ adjustments

Toronto’s priorities are clear: raise the pace, create scramble situations and give wings RJ Barrett and Scottie Barnes room to attack. Another prolonged scoring drought like the third-quarter lull in Game 1 could prove costly.

Projected starting fives

Cavaliers: James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Dean Wade, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen
Raptors: Jamal Shead, RJ Barrett, Brandon Ingram, Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl

By the numbers

Cleveland finished the regular season with a 118.9 offensive rating, narrowly ahead of Toronto’s 116.8. The Raptors posted stronger overall defensive metrics, though that edge did not surface in the series opener.

Game 2 traditionally offers a clearer picture of a series’ trajectory. If the Cavaliers again dictate pace and share the ball, they could head to Canada two wins ahead. A healthy Quickley and a faster tempo would give the Raptors their best chance to even the series.
