The Chicago Bulls have whittled their search for a new head of basketball operations to four finalists—Matt Lloyd, Bryson Graham, Dennis Lindsey and Dave Lewin—and league sources describe Minnesota Timberwolves general manager Lloyd as the leading candidate, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Lloyd, a Chicago-area native who began his NBA career with the Bulls, could be offered the position within the next several days. If hired, he is expected to target Timberwolves lead assistant Micah Nori for Chicago’s head-coaching post, multiple reports indicate.
The Bulls may also expand their front office beyond the top job. Celtics assistant general manager Dave Lewin, one of the four finalists, is being considered for a dual role as general manager and head of analytics, the Sun-Times reports.
Reed Sparks Pistons’ Game 6 Rally
In Orlando on Friday, seldom-used reserve center Paul Reed delivered six points, six rebounds and three blocks in 11 crucial minutes as the Detroit Pistons erased a 22-point halftime deficit to beat the Magic in Game 6. “Anytime his number is called, he’s ready,” guard Cade Cunningham said. “He’s like a safety blanket for us.”
Teammate Duncan Robinson added that Reed’s behind-the-scenes preparation is unparalleled. “I’ve never been around a teammate like him,” Robinson said after the win.
Detroit outscored Orlando 55-19 after intermission to force a decisive Game 7. Cunningham credited the comeback to renewed defensive focus, saying, “When we’re guarding the way we’re supposed to, it’s really hard for them to score on us.”
Pacers’ Furphy Focused on Rehab
Indiana Pacers forward Johnny Furphy said he felt his game was coming together before a torn ACL ended his season in February. The 21-year-old Australian has no firm timetable for return but emphasized he wants to build on the strides he made in his second NBA campaign.
