The Chicago Bulls are expected to finalize their head-coaching search shortly, with a decision possible as early as Monday, according to The Stein Line.
League sources told Hoops Wire that the organization intends to have a coach in place before the June 23 NBA Draft. Reported candidates include former Wizards coach and ex-Bulls assistant Wes Unseld Jr.; Portland Trail Blazers interim coach Tiago Splitter; Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori; and Atlanta Hawks assistant Ryan Schmidt.
Splitter remains a contender for the permanent job in Portland after guiding the Blazers through most of last season, while Unseld previously worked under former Bulls coach Billy Donovan. Nori has interviewed for several NBA openings over the past two seasons.
Once the coaching vacancy is filled, newly appointed head of basketball operations Bryson Graham will turn his attention to the No. 4 pick in the draft and a roster with multiple key players—Zach Collins, Nick Richards, Collin Sexton, Anfernee Simons and Guerschon Yabusele—headed for unrestricted free agency.
