Karaban Impresses at Draft Combine; Free-Agent Rankings Released; Magnay and Dowtin Change Teams

Chicago, IL — UConn senior forward Alex Karaban delivered one of the most notable performances at this week’s NBA Draft Combine, ESPN reported. Entering the event ranked No. 32 on ESPN’s board, the 6-foot-8 forward posted Monday’s top shooting marks and increased his standing vertical leap by 5.5 inches compared with his 2024 combine numbers.
Other Combine Highlights
Baylor guard Cameron Carr, Michigan forward Morez Johnson and Houston center Chris Cenac also drew positive reviews during drills and scrimmages. Conversely, Arizona forward Koa Peat struggled from the perimeter and may reconsider his draft entry despite being projected as a first-round selection before the combine.
Bleacher Report Free-Agent Rankings
Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus released a list of the NBA’s top 66 free agents and potential free agents. LeBron James, Jalen Duren and Austin Reaves headline the group, which also includes several honorable mentions.
Magnay Returns to Tasmania
The Tasmania JackJumpers announced a two-year agreement with center Will Magnay. The second season is a team option, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc. Magnay is a four-time club Defensive Player of the Year and holds franchise records for rebounds (532) and blocks (150). He appeared in one NBA game for New Orleans during the 2020-21 campaign.
Dowtin Departs Maccabi Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv confirmed it has mutually parted ways with guard Jeff Dowtin. The 29-year-old has logged 87 NBA appearances, including 41 games for Philadelphia in 2024-25.
