Golden State is weighing blockbuster possibilities that could put Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James in Warriors uniforms when the 2026-27 season begins, according to a report published on Jan. 22, 2026.

The New York Post story states that the Warriors’ front office is evaluating scenarios to acquire both former MVPs during the upcoming offseason. No specific trade frameworks or contract details were disclosed, but the report describes the franchise’s interest as “major.”

Antetokounmpo, 31, remains under contract with Milwaukee, while the 41-year-old James has a player option with the Lakers for 2026-27. Bringing either star to San Francisco would require significant roster and salary-cap maneuvering.

The Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, have missed the playoffs in two of the last three campaigns and are expected to explore aggressive roster changes after falling short in the Western Conference race again this year.
