Guard Trae Young plans to decline his player option with the Washington Wizards for the 2026-27 season and will become an unrestricted free agent, the New York Post reported Thursday.
The opt-out will allow Young to negotiate a new deal on the open market when the NBA’s free-agency period begins later this offseason. Financial terms of the option were not disclosed in the report.
The Post did not specify potential destinations or outline Washington’s next steps following Young’s decision.
