The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly preparing a firm pursuit of Los Angeles Lakers forward Rui Hachimura once the upcoming NBA free-agency period begins.

According to the report, Minnesota holds “serious interest” in adding the 6-foot-8 scorer to its frontcourt rotation. Hachimura, who joined the Lakers after a mid-season trade from Washington in 2023, is expected to draw multiple suitors when the market opens.

The Timberwolves’ push underscores the franchise’s intent to strengthen its roster around cornerstone players Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Team officials believe Hachimura’s size, shooting touch and playoff experience could provide an additional offensive option and defensive versatility.

The Lakers, meanwhile, would need to decide whether to match any offer extended to Hachimura or explore alternative roster moves.

The free-agency negotiating window is scheduled to open on July 6, with deals eligible for signing shortly afterward.
