Oklahoma City Thunder wing Jalen Williams will be monitored on a day-to-day, game-to-game basis after aggravating his left hamstring, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday, May 21.

The 25-year-old traveled with the team to San Antonio on Thursday afternoon and is expected to be listed as questionable for Friday’s Game 3 of the Western Conference finals against the San Antonio Spurs.

Recurring injury setbacks

Williams logged only seven minutes before leaving Game 2, a contest the Thunder went on to win. The guard/forward had missed the previous six games with a Grade 1 strain of the same hamstring, returning Monday for the series opener.

Injuries have dominated Williams’ season. The third-team All-NBA pick was limited to 33 regular-season games, missing the first 19 while recovering from offseason surgery on his right wrist and later sitting out two lengthy stretches with a right hamstring strain that was re-aggravated before the All-Star break.

Playoff production

Williams opened the postseason with 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists, then posted 19 points and four assists in 23 minutes before hurting the hamstring in Game 2 of the conference semifinals against Phoenix. He returned to score 26 points with seven rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes during the Thunder’s double-overtime loss to San Antonio in Game 1 of the conference finals.

The Thunder and Spurs are tied 1-1 entering Friday’s matchup at Frost Bank Center.
