New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby has a right hamstring strain and is considered day-to-day, according to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday.
The strain is not believed to be severe, allowing the medical staff to treat the injury while the team evaluates Anunoby’s status daily, the sources said.
Anunoby will be questionable for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. He exited Game 2 late in the fourth quarter after coming down awkwardly from a dunk attempt and signaling to the bench following a Mikal Bridges jumper that put New York ahead 103-99 with 2:56 remaining.
Before leaving, Anunoby scored 24 points, collected five rebounds, recorded four steals and blocked one shot in 37 minutes as the Knicks secured a 108-102 victory and a 2-0 series lead. Entering Game 3, he is the team’s second-leading postseason scorer behind Jalen Brunson and its most efficient shooter, hitting 64% from the field and nearly 60% from three on almost five attempts per game.
The 26-year-old dealt with a left hamstring strain during the 2024 conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers, missing Games 3 through 6 and lasting only five minutes in Game 7, which New York lost.
“We’ll see what it is, but it’s next man up,” Bridges said Wednesday night.
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday in Philadelphia.
