DETROIT — Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner may miss Wednesday’s Game 5 against the Detroit Pistons because of a right calf strain, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The 22-year-old underwent an MRI on Tuesday and is officially listed as questionable. Team medical staff will monitor how the calf responds to treatment before determining his availability.
Wagner was hurt late in the third quarter of Orlando’s 94-88 win in Game 4 and did not return for the final period. He logged 19 points, five rebounds and four steals in 24 minutes before exiting.
Orlando leads the best-of-seven series 3-1 and can eliminate top-seeded Detroit on the road. Wagner is averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals through the first four games.
Earlier this season, the forward missed 47 of 51 games between Dec. 8 and Mar. 31 while recovering from a left high ankle sprain but had recently regained form.
