Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the second season in a row, the league announced on May 17, 2026.

The 27-year-old star becomes one of the few players in league history to secure back-to-back MVP honors. His latest award caps another standout campaign that kept Oklahoma City at the forefront of the Western Conference race.

Gilgeous-Alexander first captured the trophy in 2025 after guiding the Thunder to a surprising playoff run. The Canadian-born guard has quickly established himself as the franchise cornerstone in Oklahoma City since arriving from the Los Angeles Clippers in 2019.

By repeating as MVP, Gilgeous-Alexander adds to a résumé that already includes multiple All-Star selections and All-NBA appearances. The league is expected to present the trophy to him in a pre-game ceremony later this postseason.
