Toronto’s courtside celebrity chairs turned into an ice sculpture Sunday night when the Raptors covered Drake’s usual seats in faux icicles before tipoff against the Brooklyn Nets.

The team posted an image of the frosted chairs on social media with the caption, “Drake’s seats froze,” signaling a playful nod to the Canadian rapper’s forthcoming studio project, “Iceman.” The album, originally rumored for release last year, will be Drake’s first solo record since fall 2023.

Drake acknowledged the stunt by liking the post and sharing the photo in his Instagram story. The seats—his regular spot at Scotiabank Arena and a familiar sight during Toronto’s 2019 NBA Finals run—were thawed in time for the opening whistle but stayed empty throughout the Raptors’ 136-101 victory.

The ice-themed gesture continues a long partnership between the franchise and its global ambassador. Drake accepted that title in 2013, appeared on the March 2016 cover of Slam alongside DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, and inspired the club’s black-and-gold alternate colorway introduced in 2015. The organization also hosted a “Drake Night” in 2016.

With Toronto returning to the postseason for the first time since 2022, the rapper is expected back in his courtside seats—assuming they stay defrosted.
