DETROIT — The Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons announced Thursday that All-Star guard Cade Cunningham will miss at least another week while he recovers from a collapsed left lung.

The 22-year-old will be reevaluated in seven days, according to the team. Cunningham has been working under the supervision of doctors along with Detroit’s medical and performance staff since the injury was first disclosed on March 19.

Before the setback, Cunningham was averaging 24.5 points and 9.9 assists. Only eight players in league history have completed a season with those numbers or better, and none have done so in a Pistons uniform.

Detroit has already clinched the Central Division and holds a four-game advantage over the Boston Celtics for the Eastern Conference’s top seed with six regular-season games remaining. The Pistons host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night and are slated to open the playoffs on April 18 or 19 when the conference quarterfinals begin.
