NEW YORK — Former St. John’s wing Oziyah Sellers said he views himself as a “perfect fit” for the New York Knicks while he attempts to secure a place on the team’s roster.
Speaking on July 14, 2026, Sellers explained that his lone season with the Red Storm gave him the confidence and experience he believes the Knicks need. The 20-year-old is currently competing for one of the remaining roster spots ahead of the 2026-27 NBA campaign.
“I feel like everything I do lines up with what the Knicks are about,” Sellers said, citing his perimeter defense and ability to stretch the floor as attributes that could help New York.
Sellers transferred to St. John’s for the 2025-26 college season and averaged double-digit points while shooting above 40 percent from three-point range. His performance under head coach Rick Pitino attracted attention from several NBA teams, but the Knicks offered what Sellers called the “perfect opportunity” to stay in New York and continue his development.
The franchise has not announced when final roster decisions will be made. For now, Sellers said he is focused on daily workouts and absorbing guidance from the coaching staff. “I’m staying ready,” he added. “If they give me the call, I’ll be ready to contribute right away.”
