Brooklyn Nets rookie Mikel Brown Jr. is scheduled to log his first minutes of the NBA Summer League on Monday, ending a two-game stretch in which he did not play.
The organization confirmed the 19-year-old guard will be available for the third contest of the exhibition slate, giving the coaching staff its first in-game look at the late-first-round pick selected in June.
Brown Jr. was listed as “DNP – coach’s decision” for the Nets’ opening two Summer League matchups. The club did not publicly disclose a reason for holding him out, but indicated he is fully cleared to participate.
Head coach Jacque Vaughn and Summer League coach Will Weaver are expected to use Brown Jr. in the backcourt alongside returning guard Cam Thomas to evaluate potential regular-season rotations.
The Nets entered Monday with an 0-2 record in Summer League play.
