NEW YORK — Players from the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs issued strong statements against fan violence late Wednesday, June 9, moments after Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals.
Speaking separately in post-game media availabilities, athletes from both clubs labeled recent incidents involving spectators as “unacceptable” and urged fans to keep the focus on basketball. They emphasized that safety at arenas and in surrounding areas must remain a priority throughout the remainder of the best-of-seven series.
While none of the players reported personal injuries, they expressed concern for fellow fans, team staff and security personnel who were caught up in confrontations outside the arena following the matchup. Team representatives said they are cooperating with league officials and local authorities as additional security measures are reviewed.
The NBA has not yet announced disciplinary action or changes to arena protocols, but a league spokesperson confirmed that an investigation into the incidents is under way.
Game 4 of the Finals is scheduled for Friday night.
