An NBA Hall of Famer says a single “terrible” error derailed the New York Knicks’ last play, turning a potential game-saving possession into a disastrous finish.
The retired star, speaking about the sequence that closed the Knicks’ most recent game, argued that one misstep caused the entire set to collapse before New York could attempt a shot. The breakdown, the legend said, was avoidable and stemmed from a basic execution mistake rather than the design of the play itself.
Video of the closing seconds shows the play unraveling almost immediately, leaving the Knicks without a clear path to the basket as the clock expired. According to the former player, the error originated at the very start of the action, throwing off the timing and spacing the Knicks needed to free up a shooter.
While the legend praised the Knicks’ overall effort, he stressed that late-game situations demand flawless precision. “One little thing goes wrong,” he said, “and the whole play is shot.”
The Knicks have not publicly responded to the criticism.
