Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns expressed sympathy for Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse after learning that Nurse’s brother has died.
“My thoughts are with Coach Nurse and his family,” Towns said, noting the difficulty of coping with a loss during the NBA season. He added that the entire Timberwolves organization extends its condolences to the 76ers coach.
The 76ers have not released additional details about the passing. No changes to Philadelphia’s coaching staff were announced, and Nurse is expected to remain with the team.
Towns spoke ahead of Minnesota’s next playoff matchup, emphasizing that the basketball community often unites when personal tragedy strikes. “We’re competitors on the court, but moments like this remind us we’re all human,” he said.
