The Memphis Grizzlies announced Tuesday that forward Brandon Clarke has died at the age of 29.
The organization and Clarke’s agency, Priority Sports, issued separate statements confirming his death. Neither statement revealed a cause.
In its message, the Grizzlies said they were “devastated” by the loss and described Clarke as a standout teammate whose influence on the franchise and the wider Memphis community would endure.
Priority Sports added that it was “impossible to convey” how deeply Clarke will be missed.
Clarke entered the NBA as a first-round selection of the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019. Two weeks after the draft, he was traded to Memphis, where he played his entire seven-season career.
