Disgraced former NBA referee Tim Donaghy has warned that a “much bigger scandal” is on the horizon, only days after a series of arrests tied to sports-betting and poker rings, according to the New York Post.

Donaghy, whose own officiating career ended amid a betting probe, told the newspaper that the latest detentions are “just the beginning” and predicted that the next wave of allegations will eclipse the current investigation. He did not provide names or a timetable but insisted additional revelations are imminent.

Law-enforcement officials recently announced multiple arrests connected to illicit sports wagering and high-stakes poker operations. While details of the cases have not been made public, Donaghy said the scope of the activity extends far beyond those already in custody.

“You’re going to see something a lot bigger very soon,” he said, adding that authorities are still gathering evidence that could implicate more individuals in both gambling enterprises.

The NBA has not commented on Donaghy’s remarks or the latest arrests. No new investigations involving league personnel have been confirmed.
