CLEVELAND — Cleveland Cavaliers reserve guard Sam Merrill underwent an MRI on his left hamstring after sustaining an injury during Tuesday night’s Game 1 loss to the Detroit Pistons, the team said.
The 29-year-old was held out of Wednesday’s practice as the Cavaliers prepare for Game 2 of the second-round series, scheduled for Thursday in Detroit.
Merrill logged a little more than six minutes in the opener, recording one assist and one turnover. During the regular season he averaged 12.8 points per game and reached double figures twice in Cleveland’s seven-game first-round win over the Toronto Raptors.
No timetable for Merrill’s return has been announced.
