The NBA will launch the 2025-26 campaign with a Western Conference doubleheader on Oct. 21, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The evening begins with the Houston Rockets visiting the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, followed by the Golden State Warriors squaring off against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kevin Durant, now part of Houston’s retooled roster, will return to Oklahoma City on the night the Thunder receive their championship rings. Later, Stephen Curry and LeBron James will meet for the 57th time in their storied careers.

Although the Dallas Mavericks were not selected for opening night, Marc Stein reports their season will begin Oct. 22 against the San Antonio Spurs. That matchup will feature this year’s No. 1 overall pick, Cooper Flagg, facing Spurs star Victor Wembanyama and No. 2 pick Dylan Harper.
