Indiana Pacers rookie guard Kam Jones was taken into custody early Monday after a short pursuit on Interstate 65 in Indianapolis, according to the Indiana State Police.
Authorities said a trooper attempted to stop the 6-foot-5 guard for alleged erratic driving on the southbound lanes of I-65. Jones reportedly did not pull over, prompting a brief chase that ended near the Fletcher Avenue exit close to Fountain Square.
The 22-year-old was booked into Marion County Jail on preliminary charges of reckless driving and resisting law enforcement.
The Pacers acknowledged the incident in a statement: “We are aware of the situation involving Kam Jones. We are in the process of gathering additional information and will not have any additional comment on the matter at this time.”
Selected 38th overall in June’s draft, Jones signed a standard contract with Indiana in July. A back injury sidelined him for much of training camp, and he is scheduled for reevaluation next month.
Jones spent four seasons at Marquette, where he became a consensus second-team All-American and All-Big East first-teamer in 2025, averaging 19.2 points, 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game as a senior.
