PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

The 76ers completed their final preseason transactions by waiving MarJon Beauchamp, Malcolm Hill, Saint Thomas, and Kennedy Chandler. Philadelphia also signed and immediately released DeAndre Williams. All five players had been on Exhibit 10 contracts and are expected to report to the Delaware Blue Coats of the G League. Beauchamp and Hill can earn bonuses of up to $85,300 if they spend at least 60 days with the affiliate, while Chandler and Thomas are eligible for half that amount. The Sixers now carry 14 players on standard NBA deals and three on two-way contracts.

NEW YORK KNICKS

New York trimmed its camp roster by releasing Garrison Mathews, Alex Len, and Matt Ryan. Mathews impressed team officials but was squeezed out by salary-cap considerations, allowing Landry Shamet to take the open veteran slot created when Malcolm Brogdon retired earlier in the week. Mathews shot 39 percent from three-point range with Atlanta last season and is expected to draw interest elsewhere. Len and Ryan, both signed in mid-September, were considered longer shots; Ryan could return via the organization’s G League club. The Knicks’ final standard roster position is expected to go to rookie Mohamed Diawara, the 51st overall pick, whose minimum contract keeps the team below the hard cap.

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES

The Timberwolves converted Johnny Juzang’s Exhibit 10 deal into a two-way contract after the 6-foot-7 wing averaged 13.8 points in just 17.6 minutes per game and hit 48 percent of his three-point attempts during five preseason contests. To create space, Minnesota waived Tristen Newton, who had accepted his two-way qualifying offer last month. The club also released veteran Alize Johnson and camp invitees Zyon Pullin and Jules Bernard; all three are expected to join the Iowa Wolves in the G League. Minnesota heads into the season with 15 standard contracts and three two-way slots filled.
