Los Angeles Lakers icon and Los Angeles Dodgers minority owner Magic Johnson applauded the Dodgers on social media after the club swept the Milwaukee Brewers to capture the 2025 National League Championship Series and secure a World Series berth.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) during the early hours of Oct. 18, 2025, Johnson congratulated manager Dave Roberts, the coaching staff, players, ownership group and the fan base on the postseason run. “Cookie and I would like to congratulate the @Dodgers…for making it to the World Series!” he wrote.
Johnson reserved his highest praise for two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, who delivered a historic performance in the clinching Game 4 at Dodger Stadium. The right-hander worked six scoreless innings, scattered two hits and struck out 10, while also belting three home runs in the Dodgers’ 5-1 victory. “We’ve never seen one player do both like Shohei Ohtani did tonight!” Johnson posted.
Los Angeles’ rotation dominated the NLCS, with Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and Ohtani all turning in standout outings. The Dodgers previously eliminated the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card Round and the Philadelphia Phillies in the Division Series before sweeping Milwaukee.
With the Dodgers headed to the Fall Classic, Johnson now shifts his attention to the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season, where the Lakers hope to add to the city’s championship aspirations.
