Los Angeles, CA — The Los Angeles Lakers unveiled a completely renovated locker room at Crypto.com Arena this week, giving players their first look at the upgraded space ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.
The organization released two short videos on X — one on Oct. 12 and another on Oct. 13 — capturing reactions from both returning and newly acquired players as they walked through the overhauled 8,200-square-foot area.
What’s Inside the New Locker Room
The redesigned facility includes:
- A dedicated players lounge
- A grooming suite
- A training suite with hydrotherapy room
- A private wellness room
- A weight and conditioning room
- An exam and X-ray suite
- Separate coaches’ locker rooms for head coach JJ Redick and his staff
Players React
Veterans Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and Jarred Vanderbilt, along with offseason addition Marcus Smart, were visibly impressed in the videos. Smart joked that two-way guard Nick Smith Jr. was unlikely to have experienced a setup of this scale before. Vanderbilt called the space “a big step” for team comfort and preparation.
Timing and Context
Players first saw the renovation prior to the Lakers’ home preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors. Luka Dončić, acquired in a blockbuster trade earlier in the offseason, did not play that night but made his preseason debut later against the Phoenix Suns. Vanderbilt said having Dončić back on the court would help the roster build chemistry heading into the regular season.
The locker room project is the latest example of the franchise’s stated commitment to player well-being, following a summer in which the front office also assisted Dončić with his transition to Los Angeles.
