The Boston Celtics have reached an Exhibit 10 agreement with undrafted wing Aaron Scott, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac. Scott, 23, averaged 8.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 27.2 minutes for St. John’s during the 2024-25 season after three years at North Texas. He shot 38.9 percent from the field, 29.3 percent from three and 81.3 percent at the foul line in 36 games.
In Portland, the Trail Blazers have waived guard Javonte Cooke. The 6-6 sharpshooter signed an Exhibit 10 deal for camp after averaging 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists over 42 G League outings with the Oklahoma City Blue last year. Although released, Cooke remains in consideration for Portland’s open two-way slot; the Rip City Remix hold his G League returning rights following a recent trade.
The Houston Rockets have signed free agents Vernon Carey Jr., Ricky Council IV and Tyrese Hunter, per Smith. Sources told Yahoo Sports the trio will be waived shortly, a procedural move that preserves Houston’s affiliate rights in the G League.
Carey, 24, was the No. 32 pick in the 2020 draft and most recently played in Turkey. Council, a high-flying wing, spent the past two seasons with the 76ers before being waived in July. Hunter, a 6-0 guard out of Memphis, averaged 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals as a senior, shooting 40.1 percent from deep.
