Los Angeles — Oct. 17, 2025: Trading-card maker Topps has introduced the first autographed Los Angeles Lakers card featuring LeBron James, marking the company’s initial signed Lakers collectible for the league’s all-time leading scorer.
Topps announced the limited-edition piece Friday on X (formerly Twitter), posting an image of the card and confirming its one-of-a-kind status. The unveiling arrives as James prepares for his 23rd NBA season, a milestone that will make him the first player in league history to appear in that many campaigns once he takes the floor.
The card pairs one of basketball’s most marketable athletes with the NBA’s globally recognized purple-and-gold jersey, creating what hobby analysts expect to be one of the priciest releases of the year. Exact production numbers and pricing were not disclosed.
James, 40, is entering his eighth consecutive season with the Lakers—his longest uninterrupted stint with a single franchise. The four-time MVP can become an unrestricted free agent in 2026, leading to speculation that the upcoming schedule could be his last.
While collectors focus on the new Topps issue, the Lakers are preparing to open the regular season without their star forward. The team recently announced that James will miss his first career Opening Night because of right-side sciatica and is aiming for a mid-November return.
Topps has previously released autographed cards of James during his tenures with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat, but this is the company’s first signed card featuring him in a Lakers uniform, arriving more than seven years after he joined the franchise.
