Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown acknowledged this week that last season’s playoff defeat to the New York Knicks is still lingering, telling reporters he now has to “listen to insufferable Knicks fans” in the aftermath of the series loss.
Brown’s candid remark came during a media session on Oct. 17, 2025, several months after New York ended Boston’s postseason run. Asked whether he had moved on, the three-time All-Star quickly shook his head and cited the constant reminders from Knicks supporters.
“I gotta listen to insufferable Knicks fans every day,” Brown said, adding that the early summer exit “still hurts.”
The Celtics, who finished the regular season with 55 wins, were eliminated in six games by New York. Brown averaged 24.1 points in the series but struggled from three-point range, shooting just 29 percent.
While the 28-year-old said he is channeling the frustration into offseason work, he admitted the chatter from rival fans has been unavoidable. “It’s motivation,” he noted. “But I’d rather be the one talking, not listening.”
Boston will open the 2025-26 campaign on Oct. 30 at TD Garden, where Brown said he hopes to give Knicks fans “a lot less to talk about” this time around.
