The Dallas Mavericks have reached a multiyear contract extension with head coach Jason Kidd, a source told ESPN on Tuesday.
The agreement comes shortly after the New York Knicks pursued Kidd during their recent coaching search. Dallas denied New York permission to interview the 50-year-old coach, and the Knicks ultimately hired Mike Brown.
Kidd owns a 179-149 record over four seasons on the Mavericks’ bench. His tenure includes a trip to the 2022 Western Conference finals followed by an appearance in the 2024 NBA Finals.
This marks Kidd’s second extension in as many years. He previously re-upped with the franchise during its 2024 playoff run amid reported interest from the Los Angeles Lakers.
NBA reporter Marc Stein first reported the latest agreement.
