Los Angeles Lakers guard-forward Luka Doncic arranged a high-octane team outing following a recent training-camp session, giving every teammate a chance to test drive sports cars at the Porsche Driving Experience, league sources told ESPN.
Reporter Dave McMenamin revealed the excursion in an Oct. 7, 2025 post on X (formerly Twitter), noting that players could choose from three different models to run laps on the track.
The event came only days after Doncic, 26, was photographed on the bench during the Lakers’ Oct. 5 preseason game in San Francisco as he ramps up for the 2025-26 campaign—his first full season in purple and gold.
Emphasis on Chemistry and Leadership
Doncic entered the offseason facing criticism in Dallas for conditioning and defensive effort. He spent the summer reshaping his body, then led Slovenia to the EuroBasket 2025 quarterfinals, performances teammates said showcased his evolution as a leader.
With training camp under way, the four-time All-Star has reiterated that developing off-court camaraderie is essential to the Lakers’ title push. The franchise’s 2020 championship run was widely credited to a close locker room, and several current players have pointed to that model as the standard.
Head coach Darvin Ham has not yet committed to playing Doncic in preseason action, but staff members have praised the guard’s vocal presence during practices. Team officials believe the early show of initiative—from summer conditioning to arranging the driving session—signals the approach Doncic plans to carry into the regular season.
The Lakers open preseason play later this week and tip off the regular schedule on Oct. 29.
