The Utah Jazz made two roster moves Monday, waiving center Steven Crowl and guard Matthew Murrell while signing guard Max Abmas and forward Cameron McGriff to training-camp contracts.

Crowl and Murrell had joined the club on Exhibit 10 agreements earlier in the offseason. Although contract terms for Abmas and McGriff were not disclosed, they are expected to contain similar Exhibit 10 language.

Player Profiles

Max Abmas: The 6-foot guard completed a five-year college career with one season at Texas in 2023-24. He spent last year with the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s NBA G League affiliate, averaging 13.6 points, 4.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 steals across 34 regular-season games.

Cameron McGriff: An undrafted 6-foot-7 swingman from Oklahoma State, McGriff appeared in three NBA games for the Trail Blazers during the 2021-22 campaign. He has since played in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm, Memphis Hustle and, most recently, the Noblesville Boom, where he posted 12.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists over 45 contests last season.

Path to a Two-Way Spot

Abmas and McGriff will compete for a possible two-way contract, though all three of Utah’s two-way slots are currently filled. If either player is waived and later appears in at least 60 games for the Stars, the Exhibit 10 clause would make them eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300.

The Jazz training camp roster now stands at 21 players.
