Cavaliers Announce Four-Game Preseason Schedule Against Bulls, Celtics and Pistons

The Cleveland Cavaliers will open a four-game preseason slate next Tuesday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, beginning a stretch that includes two meetings with the Chicago Bulls and single contests against the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons.

Oct. 7 & 9 – Bulls (home and road)

Cleveland and Chicago will play a home-and-home series. The Bulls claimed both preseason matchups last year, but the Cavaliers answered by sweeping the regular-season series, highlighted by a decisive in-season tournament victory. A key subplot this fall is guard Lonzo Ball’s first appearance against Chicago after being traded to Cleveland for Isaac Okoro during the summer.

Oct. 12 – Celtics (home)

Boston arrives with a reshaped roster. Guard Anfernee Simons joins the backcourt, while Kristaps Porzingis is now with the Atlanta Hawks and Al Horford has moved to the Golden State Warriors. Star forward Jayson Tatum is expected to miss the season. The Cavaliers split two games with Boston last year.

Oct. 14 – Pistons (road)

Detroit features familiar faces in Caris LeVert, Javonte Green and former Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. Bickerstaff guided the Pistons to a 30-win improvement last season, helping make the Central Division one of the league’s most competitive.

Cleveland dropped all four preseason outings in 2024-25, then opened the regular season 15-0 and finished 64-18, underscoring how exhibition results often have little bearing on the year ahead.
