Boston — August 5, 2025: The Boston Celtics have agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million veteran minimum contract with free-agent forward Chris Boucher, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Boston created room in the frontcourt earlier in the day by arranging a trade that will send Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz. Boucher, 32, is expected to compete for minutes at both power forward and center as the Celtics continue an offseason marked by salary trimming and roster turnover.
Except for a brief appearance with the Golden State Warriors in 2017-18, Boucher has spent his entire NBA career with the Toronto Raptors. Over seven seasons in Toronto he played 406 regular-season games, primarily off the bench, averaging 8.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 17.7 minutes while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from three-point range.
Last season Boucher appeared in 50 games, posting 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 17.2 minutes before Toronto sidelined him after February 26 to focus on younger players. He was the final member of the Raptors’ 2019 championship team still on the roster and leaves the franchise holding reserve records for points, rebounds, blocks, minutes and games played.

Toronto possessed Boucher’s Bird rights and was reportedly interested in retaining him, but no agreement materialized. He now joins another Atlantic Division club as Boston looks to solidify its rotation for the 2025-26 season.
