The NBA’s investigation involving All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard has entered its decisive phase, leaving a potential trade in limbo.
League officials, according to sources familiar with the process, are finalizing their review of allegations that have not been publicly disclosed. Until the inquiry concludes, the Los Angeles Clippers and Toronto Raptors—identified as the primary teams involved—are unable to move forward with trade discussions centered on the five-time All-NBA selection.
The probe began earlier this offseason and has now reached what league executives described as its “critical stage.” While no timetable for a ruling has been announced, both front offices are preparing for a swift resolution once the NBA issues its findings.
Leonard, 35, holds a no-trade clause and must approve any deal. He is entering the final season of his contract after averaging 24.8 points and 6.5 rebounds last year.
Representatives for the NBA, the Clippers and the Raptors declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
