Veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope plans to join the Philadelphia 76ers after finalizing a contract buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies, sources told ESPN.
The agreement would move Caldwell-Pope to his new team once the buyout process is complete. Financial terms of the buyout and the forthcoming deal with Philadelphia were not disclosed.
Memphis acquired Caldwell-Pope earlier in the offseason, but both sides quickly moved toward a separation that will allow the 31-year-old to pursue a larger role on a playoff contender.
Philadelphia has been active in reshaping its roster and views Caldwell-Pope’s three-and-D skill set as a key addition for the upcoming campaign, sources said.
