CLEVELAND — Cavaliers All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell delivered a concise recruiting pitch to free-agent forward LeBron James, urging the NBA’s career scoring leader to rejoin Cleveland.
“I mean, it’s home. We’ve done it once. Let’s do it again. Simple as that,” Mitchell said in an appearance on ESPN Cleveland.
James, 41, entered free agency earlier this month, prompting widespread speculation about his next move. League sources told Hoops Wire that Cleveland remains among the leading contenders, along with Miami and Philadelphia.
Mitchell, who has previously expressed interest in sharing the floor with James, reiterated that sentiment as the four-time MVP weighs his options.
Last season with the Lakers, James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds while earning another All-NBA nod. A return to the Cavaliers would place him alongside a core featuring Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen after the club reached the Eastern Conference finals in 2025-26.
James has not set a timetable for his decision. Speaking Thursday at Fanatics Fest, he told reporters, “I won’t hold you guys up too much longer.”
