The Milwaukee Bucks’ summer continues to draw league-wide attention, highlighted by a sizable commitment to Gary Trent Jr., Tyler Herro’s first public comments since arriving, and the departure of a longtime reserve.

Trent Jr.’s $64 million agreement drew league interest

ESPN’s Shams Charania told the “Shump Street with Iman Shumpert” podcast this week that another franchise explored a sign-and-trade for Gary Trent Jr. worth roughly the same four-year, $64 million figure the Bucks offered. League sources noted, however, that Milwaukee’s proposal is expected to be fully guaranteed, whereas the unnamed suitor’s concept may have involved partial guarantees or the inclusion of an unwanted contract headed back to the Bucks.

Herro focused on reset in hometown

Speaking with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, guard Tyler Herro said he intends to move past both the blockbuster trade that sent him from Miami and a reported altercation with former Heat teammate Bam Adebayo in Las Vegas. “Honestly, I’m just trying to move past all of it,” Herro told ESPN. “I’m focused on Milwaukee and building something special. They obviously just traded the greatest player in their history, so we want to come in and help continue what they’ve been doing.”

Herro, a Milwaukee native, added that the Bucks would have been his preferred destination if he ever left the Heat. Sources informed Shelburne that Herro was not knocked to the floor by Adebayo’s punch and had to be restrained from retaliating. Team insiders said the two players, once close, had grown apart over the past year.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo bids farewell

Forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo, who spent six of the past seven seasons with Milwaukee, announced he will not return for 2026-27. In a clip posted to his “Thanalysis” podcast, the veteran thanked the city and state: “I am grateful for everything from the bottom of my heart—everything you gave to my family.”

Milwaukee has also been linked to potential sign-and-trade discussions for forward Peyton Watson.
