The NBA took another step toward enlarging the league this week as the Board of Governors reviewed detailed presentations for prospective franchises in Seattle and Las Vegas. Although no vote was held, Commissioner Adam Silver told reporters the process is progressing and that he anticipates a definitive answer before 2024 concludes. Should the league approve expansion, the new club or clubs would be slated to debut in the fall of 2028.

Pacers guarantee Quenton Jackson’s contract

Indiana will keep guard Quenton Jackson on a fully guaranteed deal, electing not to waive him ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, according to The Indianapolis Star. The decision locks in the 24-year-old’s $2.58 million salary for the 2024-25 season. Jackson appeared in 52 games last year—starting 19—while injuries thinned the Pacers’ rotation, and he averaged 9.1 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds. The move leaves Indiana with 14 players on standard contracts and limited financial flexibility as the team remains over the luxury-tax threshold.

Nuggets bring back Tyus Jones

The Denver Nuggets have officially signed Tyus Jones to the one-year contract previously reported, giving head coach David Adelman a seasoned backup for Jamal Murray. Jones, 30, split last season among Orlando, Dallas and Denver, then appeared in three postseason games for the Nuggets. While his offensive production dipped a year ago, the veteran guard has led the NBA in assist-to-turnover ratio multiple times and is viewed as one of the league’s steadier reserves. Denver hopes a full campaign in familiar surroundings will help him recapture that efficiency.
