Agent Rich Paul said LeBron James alone will choose his next team, underscoring that the four-time MVP is in full control as free agency nears its close.
“LeBron will make his own decision. I’m rolling with him,” Paul told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of ScoopB.com during an interview released this week.
The Klutch Sports CEO is advising James throughout the process but emphasized the final call belongs to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
Cavs Speculation Addressed
Paul also responded to questions about the Cleveland Cavaliers after recent podcast remarks on the club’s roster construction following the trade that sent Klutch client Darius Garland to the Los Angeles Clippers.
He dismissed any notion of friction with newly acquired guard James Harden. “I like James Harden. He’s actually my friend,” Paul said.
Although disappointed by Garland’s departure, the agent insisted his relationship with Cleveland’s leadership remains intact. “I rock with Dan Gilbert, Chris Grant, Koby Altman and Brandon Weems,” he added. Grant has not worked for the Cavaliers in more than 10 years, highlighting the long-standing ties Paul maintains with figures connected to the franchise.
Teams in the Hunt
League sources cited by Hoops Wire still view Cleveland as the favorite for James, while the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat are making aggressive pitches. The Minnesota Timberwolves are also in the mix.
James is scheduled to appear at Fanatics Fest in New York later this week, and many around the NBA believe his decision could come at any moment.
