New York’s newest prospect, 20-year-old Jack Kayil, says he intends to join the Knicks right away rather than spend a developmental season overseas.
Kayil, selected by the Knicks in the 2026 NBA Draft, told reporters he has no interest in being “stashed” with an international club and believes he can contribute immediately in the NBA.
The Knicks have occasionally kept second-round picks abroad to free up roster space and allow players more time to develop. Kayil made clear he wants a roster spot in New York this fall, adding that his focus is on earning minutes at Madison Square Garden.
The club has not publicly committed to a plan for the rookie’s first professional season.
