The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed veteran forward Trey Lyles to a one-year deal, the team announced on July 10.

Lyles, 30, returns to the NBA after spending the 2025-26 season with Real Madrid. In 36 EuroLeague games, he averaged 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 51.5% from the field, 44.3% from three-point range and 79.2% at the free-throw line, helping the Spanish club reach the EuroLeague championship game.

The Canadian forward previously logged 10 NBA seasons with Utah, Denver, San Antonio, Detroit and Sacramento from 2015-25. Over 650 regular-season appearances, he posted career averages of 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per contest.

This marks the second time Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly has acquired Lyles. Connelly, then running the Nuggets, traded for the forward during the 2017 draft in a deal that sent the No. 13 pick—later used on Donovan Mitchell—to Utah.

According to multiple reports, Lyles is joining Minnesota on a minimum-salary contract. The Timberwolves had been seeking additional depth at power forward after agreeing to trade Julius Randle and Naz Reid, and the signing will not impact the club’s ongoing pursuit of four-time MVP LeBron James.
