Las Vegas — Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo punched Milwaukee Bucks guard Tyler Herro on Friday morning during a confrontation inside a gym at Resorts World Casino, according to multiple reports.

ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported that Adebayo struck Herro “near the head area.” The Athletic, citing witnesses Sam Amick, Joe Vardon, Eric Nehm and Jon Krawczynski, added that the incident occurred in front of an AAU team coached by Herro.

People familiar with the situation told The Athletic that Herro said something to Adebayo, who then walked over and delivered the punch. Both players left on their own, and a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson confirmed no officers were called to the scene.

Background Tension

Herro, 26, spent the first five seasons of his career with Miami before being sent to his hometown Bucks in the blockbuster deal that brought Giannis Antetokounmpo to South Florida. In recent weeks, the guard appeared to criticize Adebayo on social media by sharing a graphic listing the NBA’s least efficient mid-range shooters last season. Leaked direct messages also showed alleged negative comments by Herro regarding Adebayo’s performance and contract.

According to the Miami Herald, several former Heat players harbor frustration over Adebayo’s five-year, $163 million extension and the fact that, unlike many of his teammates, he has rarely surfaced in trade discussions.

Summer League Sightings

Hours before news of the altercation broke, Herro sat courtside for the NBA Summer League game between the Heat and Bucks and told Prime Video’s broadcast crew, “It’s all love in Miami,” adding that both organizations were “super happy” with their fresh starts. Adebayo was not present at the game.

After the punch was reported, Herro declined comment. A Heat spokesperson said the club is aware of the incident but will not address it publicly.
