Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst said this week that rookie guard Kasparas Jakucionis was a non-negotiable element of the trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat last month.
Speaking to reporters, Horst explained that the Bucks insisted on acquiring all four players included in Miami’s bid—Jakucionis, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kelel Ware—along with draft considerations. “Each player was primary for us,” Horst said. “There was not a deal that we would have done that didn’t have each of these four players in it, including Kasparas.”
Horst praised Jakucionis for cracking Miami’s rotation as a rookie and highlighted the 2025 first-round pick’s size, competitiveness, and shooting ability. “He’s a true point guard, a table-setter, and he plays the right way,” Horst added.
Portis Says Farewell to Milwaukee
Longtime Bucks forward Bobby Portis, now with Miami, held a pop-up event in Milwaukee on Wednesday to thank fans for six seasons of support. “To be somewhere for six years, win a championship and get so much support like I have from a city, it’s tough,” Portis told local media.
Mitchell’s Max Extension and Cleveland’s Future
Donovan Mitchell’s new maximum-salary extension—worth 35 percent of the salary cap through his age-33 season—underscores the Cleveland Cavaliers’ commitment to the seven-time All-Star. Analysts note the deal could tighten roster-building flexibility around the high-scoring but defensively challenged guard.
Swain to Run Point in Bulls Summer League
Chicago Bulls rookie Dailyn Swain, selected 15th overall last month, averaged 3.6 assists as a junior in 2025-26 and plans to continue developing his playmaking skills. The Bulls expect the 6-foot-8 guard to handle primary ball-handling duties in Summer League. “I’m going to be on the ball a lot—making the right reads and making everybody better,” Swain said.
